Taiwan Medical Mission in Nonga General Hospital

On June 3rd, The Taiwan Mobile Medical Mission, consists of neuro-surgical doctors, anesthesiologist, dietitian and nurses, has been sent by Changhua Christian Hospital (CCH) arrived Rabaul, Nonga General Hospital yesterday to conduct 5 days medical voluntary service. The medical team also donated one 40-feet container included patients’ beds, nursing trollies, surgical supplies, etc. to help building up the capacity of Nonga General Hospital.

Nonga General Hospital has signed MOU with Changhua Christian Hospital in 2017, since then, CCH has been sending medical staffs to Nonga twice per year and also providing the advanced professional training for staffs from Nonga General Hospital. Till now, Taiwan medical mission has been dispatched more than forty medical staffs from CCH to do voluntary service at Nonga General Hospital. And Hospital also has already recruited more than ten potential staffs to Taiwan for short-term advanced training.

This is the second container that CCH has donated medical equipment to Nonga General Hospital. Witness by Mr. Levi Mano, from East New Britain Provincial Health Authority Board and Mr. Eliot S. C. Jiang, First Secretary of Taipei Economic and Culture office in PNG, the ceremony of MOU signing was held during the visit of medical mission on June 3rd. To response the Global Surgery Advocacy by WHO, Changhua Christian Hospital will continue to support Papua New Guinea healthcare service and management quality to achieve the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) of Sustainable Development Goals.
