Jesus once said, “ I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.” Following his teaching, Changhua Christian Hospital(CCH) officially launched its overseas medical missions since 2005, with SHARE(Spiritual, Health, Alliance, Resource and Education) as its core Value and guiding principle.
Over the years, CCH has mobilized the resources from governmental and non-governmental organizations to conduct long-term and short-term medical service over Africa, South Pacific, Asia, and Caribbean regions, including Swaziland, Sao Tome and Principe, Papua New Guinea, St. Lucia, St. Vincent, Thailand, and Myanmar as well. Not only OPD and general surgical medical service in developing countries, but CCH also encouraged medical personnel to do voluntary service to deliver clinical service and public health education programs and undertook free medical services in the rural areas.
In order to strengthen the technologies and share the new knowledge of healthcare, CCH hosted trainees from developing countries and designed short-term training courses in different fields. Till the end of 2021, over 400 medical personnel were recruited from Africa, South Pacific, Asia, and Caribbean regions to CCH for one to three months of training in medicine, nursing, emergency, medical lab., and biomedical engineering department, etc. Trainees from friendly countries not only built their capacity in specialties but also acquainted Taiwan's culture as well.
