Prof. Chen from NTU shared “Big Data Monitoring, Analysis and Forecast about COVID-19 Pandemic”

On June 11^th, Prof. Chen Hsiu-hsi, Deputy Dean of Public Health College of National Taiwan University was invited by Changhua Christian Hospital to join “The response to COVID-19 in Taiwan and Smart Healthcare Technology” series online seminar and share the topic of “Big Data Monitoring, Analysis and Forecast about COVID-19 Pandemic” with professionals and researchers from Southeast Asia countries. In the presentation of Prof. Chen, he shared reproduce number (R0) model to efficiently measure the contamination and predict the trend of pandemic development.

The Representative of Taipei Economic Culture Office in Myanmar, Mr. Charles Li and Dr. Surin Marsrikrod, Vice President for Global Engagement and Faculty Development of Walailak University of Thailand were invited to give remarks at the beginning of session. Dr. Soawapak Hinjoy, the Director of Office of International Cooperation, DDC of Thailand shared how government managed big data even three insurance schemes in Thai are very different from Taiwan one payer system.

Dr. Udomsak, Director of Research Institute for Health Science of Walailak University, illustrated how academic institution cooperated with province government to monitor the epidemic as well as Dr. Shiao Meng-hsin, Researcher of Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University, Thailand also commented Thailand has very good volunteer system for a long time and those resources have been well managed and operated on epidemic prevention and awareness in rural areas of Thai. This experience learnt from Taiwan. Besides, as one of the top university hospitals in Thailand, Dr. Shiao mentioned Ramathibodi hospital worked with biotechnology companies in the fast screening kits and vaccine development as well. In this session, near 130 participants from university, public and private health sectors including Thailand, Myanmar, Indonesia, Vietnam, Philippines, and Malaysia were invited to join.
